The Exclusivity Clause

An exclusivity clause, within a binding contract, firmly establishes the condition that a particular good or service is to be obtained exclusively from a single provider. It grants exclusive rights to a particular entity.

Within the Bible is clearly revealed a great exclusivity clause. It declares the exclusive rights that God has over creation. This is the great and abiding truth that there is no other God and no other way to eternal life but the way that God has provided through Jesus Christ. Therefore, true belief in Christ is to the exclusion of any other god or religious system. You cannot be a true Christian unless Jesus is your God, exclusively. This means to receive Christ is to renounce all other spiritual or religious allegiances. This is what it means (among other things) to be a Christian. The Lord Jesus Christ is God, exclusively (1 Timothy 3:16). The Bible is absolute on this matter.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6)

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

This is God's claim to exclusivity as the Almighty Sovereign over creation, and the only savior for mankind. There are many lying voices and reasonings in this world; they deceive and mislead many saying, "surely all roads lead to the top" and "the other religions cannot all be wrong" and "it's not fair that there should only be one way - how could so many be wrong?" It is reasoned that other religions are equally valid and are simply a different path to God, and that sincere intentions are sufficient for salvation. This is simply not true within the sphere of God's reality; and it is his reality that we are all subject to. Other religions represent other gods (non-existent) - gods that are very different than the one true God. God is who he is and other gods are not who he is. It is error to insist that salvation can be found also in other names. If this were true then Jesus would not have been given the name that is above every other name; the name that every knee will bow before and every tongue will confess. (Philippians 2:10-11) Other gods and religions? What need do we have for other gods? Is not the Lord of creation and of the universe sufficient to fill all in all? Is he not enough to fill the hearts of all he has made and purchased with his own blood on the cross? If Christ alone suffered and died for all men, is it not reasonable that God should require of all men faith in Christ alone as the condition for salvation? If Christ has identified with sinners to redeem them forever, should not sinners identify with Christ (through faith) in order to realize so great a salvation?

For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, (1 Timothy 2:5-6)

What is it in man that turns him to another way or another god (which is no god at all)? It is nothing less than an evil and selfish heart that turns him away from falling upon the one true God who stands ready to save. Those who are the enemies of God despise and reject the idea of Jesus Christ as the only way to heaven. For these, any other way is a suitable alternative to the only true way and the only One who IS. But from the earliest commandment this great truth of exclusivity is the sure reality.

"You shall have no other gods before Me." (Exodus 20:3)

Exclusivity is the concept that those who call themselves "tolerant" refuse to tolerate. This current mega trend of "tolerance" exists entirely for the purpose of opposing the claims of exclusivity. Tolerance to those who cry, "tolerance" means, that anything and everything else besides God is acceptable. But when it comes to God and his truth, there is little tolerance for that. The more of this kind of "tolerance" that they can breed in society, the more shoulder to shoulder support for godlessness they can establish. This is done to further blur the lines in order to justify (in their own eyes and among themselves) their departure from anything truly divine. Those who prefer any other way, except God's way, become like silly children who suddenly depart from sound reasoning in order to preserve their life from what they see as divine intrusion. This magnifies the reality and vital necessity of exclusivity in the grand scheme of man's relationship to God.

It is not enough to acknowledge Christ or simply add him to a collection of other gods because he may be of some assumed use or benefit to you. The Lord of Glory is not a side dish, or an add on, or a mere benefit. Jesus is not merely a useful addition to your personal wellness program. If he is truly your God then he is also your King, exclusively. He is not on par with any other and he will not share his glory with another. I know of no one else who can speak and bring into being the starry host spread across the immense expanse of the universe. All creation is subject to him. He is not subject to our limited estimations of him.

"To whom then will you liken Me, or to whom shall I be equal?" says the Holy One. (Isaiah 40:25)

I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. (Isaiah 42:8)

Do you want to worship angels and Jesus too? For this there is absolutely no Biblical support. Perhaps you believe and trust in Jesus as well as your "spirit guide". This is a great sin and it is extra-Biblical foolishness! If this is the case, then you are in great spiritual danger! Anything that proceeds out of the new age movement is connected to the demonic and you are playing around with things that you do not understand. In this warning God has served you notice that unless you repent and change your mind about this great spiritual error you can have no assurance of eternal life; for you have not yet truly believed in (trusted in) the only begotten Son of God. You are violating the exclusivity clause. Change your mind and submit to the Lord while you still have time. You must exclusively embrace the only one and true God; lest you yourself be found to be an imposter and eternally excluded from the flock of God.

Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture." (John 10:7-9)

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (Ephesians 4:4-6)

Christ alone is God incarnate.

Christ alone lived a sinless life.

Christ alone shed his blood for sinners.

Christ alone was raised from the dead.

Christ alone is worthy of exclusivity.

Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: I am the First and I am the Last; besides Me there is no God. (Isaiah 44:6)

And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. (Revelation 22:12-13)

Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. (Isaiah 45:22)
