"I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being."
(Psalm104:33)
Many years ago, as a young believer, I was sitting in church listening to a sermon. One line in the sermon jumped out at me and made a deep impression upon me - it is clear to this day. The pastor said, "the ungodly won't sing his praises." Oh they won't?, I thought to myself, well, I will! I will sing to the Lord as long as I live! From that moment forward I decided that I would always sing aloud when in church with the Lord's people.
The ungodly will not sing his praises. They will sing every other song, but not his song. They will not sing his praises nor will they remain in the company of those who do. Creation sings his praise, the holy angels sing his praise, all in heaven sing his praise, and his beloved church sings his praise, but those who are of this world will not sing. He is not welcome in their heart and his praise is not in their mouth.
Beloved Christian, when you stand in the congregation during the song service, do your lips move? Is there any praise in your mouth? Do you honor the Lord in song? Through the Lord's free Spirit be convinced of this privilege and partake in this joy. Sing to the Lord as long as you live and praise your God as long as you have your being. You were placed here for this reason, you were ordained for this purpose.
Let us stand to fill up the deficiency. Let us stand to be his people, to display his glory, and declare his praise until the day comes when the whole earth will sing his praise. Join in the ranks of the Lord's host and enter into his courts with singing. Like the morning stars that sang for joy your praises will glorify God and rise up to stand against the ungodly who cannot call him Lord and who will not sing his praise.
"Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding. God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness. The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted." (Psalm47:6-9)
