"Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:11-15)
While at the great white throne in Zion, I asked several people if they knew how the great white throne got it's name. No one I spoke with understood that the name came from this Revelation 20 passage regarding the final judgement for non-believers. I wonder how many today fail to understand what truly awaits them if they continue in unbelief. God is good and just to tell us the truth, and to warn all so that we may each have opportunity to prepare to meet God when this short life on earth comes to an end. Let all men hear the scriptures and receive the good news of salvation in Christ that they may be spared from that great and terrible day.
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.” (Revelation 2:11) |
